Tiktak video on Padma bridge, youth arrested under ICT Act

Jajira police have arrested a young man named Helal Uddin Dhali (23) under the ICT Act for making a tick-tack video about the Padma Bridge in Shariatpur. Later on Tuesday (May 24) at around 6 pm, the Shariatpur Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court sent him to jail.

Helal Uddin is the son of Siraj Dhali of East Kazikandi village in the Bikenagar union of Jajira Upazila of Dhali district. A case has been filed against him under Jajira Police Station under a Digital Security Act.

According to the case file, members of Sheikh Russell Cantonment, who were engaged in security work on the bridge, were patrolling in the West Naodoba area on Monday afternoon. Suddenly they see Helal making videos with various gestures next to the 42nd pillar of the Padma Bridge. He came closer and saw that he was making a video of the ticket. He was then detained along with two mobile phones. At that time, various negative ticking videos about the Padma Bridge were found on his mobile phone.

At that time, when the army members brought him to Jazira, he fell ill. He was later admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. After recovering, members of the army handed him over to the Jazira police station on Tuesday. Later, Jajira police sub-inspector (SI) Jasim Uddin filed a case against him under the Digital Security Act. He was then produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Shariatpur. The judge later ordered that he be sent to prison.

Jajira Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Jasim Uddin said Helal was working under a river management project contractor. He admitted that he had been making propaganda videos about the bridge for several days. He left those videos on social media at different times and spread confusion. We arrested him and sent him to court. The court ordered him sent to jail.
